Not all fantastic guitar players are fantastic guitar teachers.
A fabulous guitar teacher possess communication/organization skills that the "rock star" in the band probably hasn't developed.
Most students/parents do not know how to qualify the right teacher for themselves.
Your teacher choice will make the difference between whether you learn effectively or dink around for a few years.
QUESTIONS TO ASK
#1 How long have you been teaching? How many students do you have right now?
#2 How long do most students take lessons from you?
#3 Do you teach complete songs with all the lyrics, chords and licks?
#4 Do you have your students sing along in their lesson?
#5 Do you pre-prepare lessons plans and have music ready to go?
#6 Do you ever cancel lessons?
THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT / MATCH YOURSELF TO A TEACHER WHO WILL TEACH YOU WHAT YOU WANT
- Do you want to play classic rock, classical, blues, learn music theory, play leads?
- Do you want to play and sing?
NOTE: Don't choose a new teacher because their lessons are inexpensive.
Experienced, accomplished teachers will always have a higher tuition.
